The Beta Blocker and Clonidine Protocol

Lesson 4
Lesson 4 - Beta Blockers

16. Mortality: 2 Year Mortality

What happened next? We followed patients out to two years and low and behold. Fewer people died in the atenolol treated group (9) as compared to the placebo group (21) (about half as many). It was so obvious that when you piled up the death certificates for the patients, one pile of death certificates was twice as high as the other. It was 19 days to the first death in the placebo group and 237 days to the first patient in the atenolol treated group.
