Lesson 2
10. PCM (Perioperative Cardiac
Morbidity) Risk Factors
Let's
review the risk factors. So now you have to worry about: Coronary
Artery Disease, Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure,
Unstable Angina, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Hypertension,
Diabetes, Cigarettes, Elevated Cholesterol, Age over 65, and
last but not least an episode of Myocardial Ischemia.
I
want to apologize, but I have now just given you a new thing
to worry about: Myocardial Ischemia. And, just because I
am a bit sadistic I want to point out that this is not just
myocardial ischemia in the operating room; It is myocardial
ischemia from a day or two preop to a week post op. You
now have to worry about PERIOPERATIVE myocardial ischemia
not just OPERATIVE ischemia.
